What a pretty girl this silver Brunette long hair American Girl Barbie is! Shes a beauty that had been played with a lot, and she has several flaws from her childhood owner. She has most of her overall hair length, but her biggest flaw is she has had some hair trimming & thinning done, so she is definitely not for "Mint" collectors. Shes on an AG body that has 1 leg that bends and poses; the other leg doesnt click any more. The AG body also has
a factory flaw around the back and side of the neck. But she has nice tight joints, good nail polish and no stains.
She comes in a newer home sewn red/floral drop waist dress and red Japan open toe shoes, shown in pic #4, in a clear plastic display box (not shown) . The blue gown in some of the photos is not included. Also the Kaiser doll stand is not included in this sale, nor the blue chair.Ive collected vintage Barbie for 30+ years, and I scrutinize items I sell on eBay. I dont grade anything as "Mint" unless Ive just taken it out of its original packaging. If you have a question that my description hasnt answered, please ask me:)
Please note that I have not used eBays auto lighting feature in most of these pics, as it does tend to overexpose, and it makes her look like a "pink skin" AG, which she is not.
This girl has some very nice good points, such as no green ear, no nose nips, and no neck splits. She has 2 light tap marks on her left cheek, see pic #11. Her complexion is a nice light tone, that hasnt tanned or darkened from smoke or molds. She does have a tiny poke mark/scratch at her neck rim, see pic #15, but this is not a neck tear, and it has not been glued. Her overall hair length is still there, but her original owner thought that her hair was unruly, so she thinned her hair all around the sides and back, see pics #10-16. You can see in pic #5 that her hair was trimmed at the right side of her face (on the left in the pic). Her remaining hair is in thin condition now, but you can blend most of the cut hair in with the long hair, and it does cover her scalp when styled carefully. She has some wiry, dry ends on some of her longer hair. She has a dark painted scalp that has partially worn off, see pic #13. Her bangs were sticking out funny when I found her, so Ive added a blue ribbon headband which helps her bangs to lay down. Her hair could be parted and styled better, see pic #16. Her ruby lips had some rubs, so they have been retouched with artists water-based acrylic. She has been given a hint of blush. Her brows are nice and dark, and all original. She has a bit of original smokey eyeshadow too. She has a tiny nibble out of her left eyelash ridge, on the right ins pic #19.
Barbies bendleg body is marked 1958 Japan on her right butt cheek, with all of the lines in indented lettering, see pic #24. Her left butt cheek has a #1. She has good joints that hold poses at the shoulder and hips. She has all fingernail polish, and all of her fingers and toes. No chews. Her arms are darker than her torso. Her right leg is tight at the hip, and her right knee bends back 3x with loud clicks. Her left knee does not bend anymore, but her left hip holds all poses and is not "springy" or wobbly, though its not quite as tight at the hip as the right one. She has a weird bubble around the back of her neck, and a wrinkle in the vinyl at the right neck seam, see pics #12,13 & 15. Her head sits on her neck knob securely, and it looks fine from most angles. But because of the bodys neck "wrinkle", you can see the head doesnt sit perfectly flush on the neck from every angle, see pic #13. She has 4 tiny blueish specks on her right side/back mid-thigh, which dont show up in my pics. She has 1 poke mark below her right knee, and 4 light tap marks on the back of her right ankle. She has 3 tap marks on the back of her left ankle, which arent very noticeable.
The dress is something I bought off of eBay a while back. The dress is clean and closes in back with snaps. It fits very snugly through the torso. The red Japan mules are marked on the bottom of 1 shoe; they dont have any cracks or splits.
