This is a beautiful & high quality genuine Japanese, furisode/wedding kimono/robe in excellent, probably unused, condition.
Could be used as traditional costume, as a unique & eye-catching robe or coat, for fancy dress, or for display/interior decor purposes.
The fabric is a semi matte silk/polyester blend in sophisticated olive green with a discreet woven background pattern.
There are lovely designs of fans with peonies, pine trees, butterflies etc with gold couching, gold foil and gold paint.
The design colours include caramel, orange, rust/deep red, mauve, deep blue, and more.
The kimono is in excellent, probably unused condition, Nonoticeable marks or flaws. There are slight creases from storage.
I believe that this furisode is from the 1970s-80s as it pre-dates the requirement for fabric labels.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to the home of a well respected kimono dealer in Kyoto, where I bought this high quality furisode. It was very expensive and he doesn't sell outside of Japan. I am reluctantly selling due to downsizing.
Fully lined in ivory fabric with a contrasting orange skirt and sleeve border. There is a secondary orange lining at the neckline.
The designs continue inside the skirt lining, this is a high end and expensive detail.
This furisode would be suitable as traditional dress, as a unique robe or coat, or to hang on a wall for display.
Could also be used for anime/manga/cosplay. It would make a wonderful and unusual wedding coat.
Furisode are worn by unmarried girls, usually for the coming of age ceremony and weddings.
This is the most formal type of kimono in use today. As they can cost many hundreds of pounds, most girls can't afford to own one and so they are usually hired for special occasions.
In my opinion this would best fit a UK ladies size Medium/Large (UK 12-16).2A long length garment.
Kimono are adaptable in size due to the overlapping front. They should be worn left side over right.
This kimono would have been be worn with a Fukuro obi sash. I have several obi for sale in separate listings, and others available on request.Could also be worn with a wide belt, cord, or sash, depending on your requirements.
The length would normally be adjusted by folding over at the waist and securing with a cord hidden under the obi.
Wrist-wrist 132cm 52" .... length 160cm 63" .... shoulder to shoulder 64cm 25.2" .... sleeve length 115cm 45.3"....weight 1350 grams
All measurements are approximate. Please check carefully and make your choice.
Please note furisode are rare, expensive and sought after. Some sellers describe less expensive types of kimono as furisode when in fact they are houmongi, tsukesage or komon. If the sleeves are less than 85cm long they are NOT furisode.
All detailsin my listings are given in good faith, according to my observations, and information provided by the Japanese seller.
Smoke and pet free home. No returns. Always happy to combine UK postage where appropriate. Thank you.
