DESCRIPTION

A fascinating anthropological and travel work detailing the explorations of German anthropologist Paul Schebesta as he travelled through the Malaysian islands. He made numerous contributions to the field of anthropology, including his work on pygmies of Southeast Asia. 

The first English edition of this work, translated by Arthur Chambers. 

Illustrated with one hundred and forty-two illustrations from photographs and sketches by the author, as well as a folding map. Collated and complete. 

Containing a previous owners small signature to the front free-endpaper.

CONDITION

In the publishers original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some shelf wear to the boards and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. A few marks to the boards. Containing a previous owners small signature to the front free-endpaper. Internally, the the frontispiece lifting slightly to the tail, otherwise remaining binding is generally firm. A few spots to the pages, which are otherwise bright and clean.
