The first edition of this vanishingly scarce collection of late nineteenth century short stories, from Mrs. W. D. Baikie.

A scarce local imprint. 

Present in this work is the titular tale, along with Wee Dave and the Brownie, Snorros Temptation, The Banner-Bearers Story, and The Lapwings Quest.

With a charming inscription to the verso of a preliminary leaf, dated Xmas 1921, awarding this work to a congregational Sunday school.

In the publishers original pictorial cloth binding.


CONDITION

In the publishers original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with light marks to board tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with the odd spot. Ink inscription to a preliminary leaf.
